Much like it sister ship, the Decreto-class, the Hammer-class was originally a Star Destroyer in the planning phase at the time of the Second Corellian Insurrection.
It was equipped with enough weaponry to destroy a Nebula-class Star Destroyer single handedly.
Training rooms and weapon production lines filled the interior and four large downward-facing hangars were capable of receiving Galactica-class troop carriers. The Sith troopers, who used such vessels as their carriers, were given the initial training inside vessels of this class. Like many other Sith starships, the Hammer-class had a long, narrow, dagger-shaped hull however, it also had four large columns surrounding a central one that protruded from below and a small, flat bridge structure in front of the columns on its dorsal side.
The Hammer-class Star Destroyer was the most numerous Star Destroyer of the Sith Order of Decreto throughout the Sith Crusade, Successors War, Octom War and Caedus Wars.
